His Story

Norman R. Johnson passed away on September 18th, 2026 - leaving behind his wife, Nancy Johnson, his son, Jay Johnson, and a legacy of hard work, adventure, and great memories.

Norman was born on October 3rd, 1947 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Norman C. and Marjorie Johnson. His Air Force upbringing took him from the Azores islands to Cape Cod with his parents eventually settling down in San Antonio, Texas. Growing up, he was always active and outdoors - playing football, baseball, and becoming an avid fisherman and hunter.

A natural salesman, Norman found early success working in insurance and then with The Coca-Cola Company. After becoming a father at 40, he pursued his dream of entrepreneurship and founded Jay's Beverage & Coffee Service Inc. - proudly naming the company after his only son who he would later pass the business down to.

Norman had a passion for the open road. He rode motorcycles and worked on cars throughout his life but was best known for his yellow 1957 Chevy Bel Air. He and his wife spent countless weekends cruising to Texas car shows and shared a deep love for travel - taking adventures everywhere from Las Vegas and Death Valley to Florida rocket launches and Alaskan cruises.
